Faith, family, and quiet courage are etched into every life commemorated in The Annual Monitor for 1872, recording the Quaker memorials of 1871 across Great Britain and Ireland. These are lives carefully remembered. Edited by William Alexander, this distinctive quaker obituary collection gathers concise, reverent notices of British and Irish Quakers from every walk of life. In the spare, disciplined style of Victorian religious biographies, each entry glimpses inner conviction as well as outward circumstance, offering a moving panorama of 19th century Quaker history. For researchers, it is a rich trove of British Quaker genealogy records and other quaker nonconformist records, preserving names, dates, family links, and local meetings among Great Britain Quaker families. For general readers, it stands as a primary source Quaker anthology, illuminating how ordinary men and women lived, suffered, worked, and worshipped within the Society of Friends. First issued for a single year yet part of a long-running sequence of annual monitor Quaker obituaries, this volume has enduring value as a historical reference for genealogists, historians of religion, and anyone drawn to the moral texture of the past. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure, it will appeal equally to casual readers of social history, family historians, and serious collectors of society of friends memorials and quaker memorials 1871.
