Behind every name lies a story from across the centuries of the United Kingdom. History lives in these pages. Dictionary Of National Biography (Volume XLVIII) Reily-Robins, edited by Sidney Lee, is a classic biographical reference work offering authoritative British national biographies for notable figures whose surnames fall between Reily and Robins. Conceived as a monumental historical biography dictionary at the height of Victorian scholarly reference, it blends meticulous research with an eye for character, placing each life within the wider currents of national history. For readers drawn to British historical figures and the lives of notable Britons, this volume opens a densely textured world, each subject sketched in clear, unfussy prose. Long valued as a reference for historians, it also serves as a rich genealogy and research resource, illuminating family lines, local communities, and public life through the Victorian and Edwardian era. Originating in the great Victorian Dictionary of National Biography, precursor of the modern Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, it stands at the heart of the classic British reference collection. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. An essential companion for libraries, scholars, students, and curious general readers, this enduring Victorian scholarly reference invites anyone interested in United Kingdom history to explore the depth and variety of British lives with confidence and delight.
