Tracing an American family back through time depends on knowing where the printed trails lie. Every search begins with sources. In A List Of Some American Genealogies Which Have Been Printed In Book Form, noted genealogist Thomas Allen Glenn assembles a landmark american genealogy reference, guiding readers to published family histories that might otherwise remain hidden in archives and private libraries. This concise printed family histories index highlights american family genealogies across regions and eras, opening doors for surnames lineage research from colonial American families through the nineteenth century. Carefully compiled at a moment when 19th century genealogy was taking shape as a serious discipline, Glenn's work stands as an early genealogical bibliography collection and a revealing snapshot of united states genealogy scholarship in his day. It functions as both a practical resource for genealogists and family history researchers and a historical record of what had been committed to print by that period. Ideal as a genealogy source collection for personal study or as part of a library reference collection, it offers scholars, local historians, and collectors an organised starting point for tracking down long out-of-the-way family narratives and lineal records. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
