A fierce narrative of faith, politics, and national character in a contested kingdom. Faith, liberty, Scotland's conscience revealed. In Memoirs Of North-Britain, John Oldmixon offers an early modern historical memoir of Scotland that draws on authentic writings, both manuscript and printed, to contend that the Scots nation history is rooted in a constant defence of protestant religion and liberty. At once a protestant religious history book and a classic Scottish history text, it explores Scottish protestantism and liberty against the shifting power struggles of crowns, parliaments, and churches. Written in the wake of turbulent dynastic change, this work places early modern Scotland history within a wider North Britain historical context, tracing how religious conviction and political identity shaped one another across the British Isles. For students of Scottish history and church of Scotland history, as well as readers seeking a primary source for historians engaging in British protestantism historical study, Oldmixon's testimony captures contemporary arguments, prejudices, and hopes with rare immediacy. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. Ideal for scholars, general readers, and classic-literature collectors, this landmark of Scots nation history speaks to anyone interested in Scottish protestantism and liberty, North British identity, and the enduring relationship between faith and freedom.
