A king in exile. A nation on the edge of conquest. This is Scotland's great epic. John Barbour's 'The Life And Acts Of The Most Victorious Conqueror Robert Bruce, King Of Scotland' is a sweeping medieval Scottish epic poem that follows the life of Robert the Bruce from hardship and rebellion to hard-won sovereignty. Often known simply as The Bruce by Barbour, this classic historical narrative poem blends vivid depictions of medieval Britain warfare with moments of courage, loyalty and sacrifice, capturing the brutal intensity of the wars of Scottish independence and the ideals of medieval Scottish kingship. Both stirring chronicle and national myth, it evokes the atmosphere of 14th century Scottish history and appeals to readers drawn to Braveheart era Scottish history and enduring stories of defiance. Composed in the fourteenth century, Barbour's poem stands as a cornerstone of classic Scottish literature, offering a contemporary perspective on power, loyalty and faith in a turbulent age. This classic Scottish literature edition is for Scottish history students seeking a primary literary witness to the wars of Scottish independence, and makes a thoughtful gift for history buffs fascinated by medieval Scottish kingship and medieval Britain warfare, equally appealing to casual readers and serious collectors of The Bruce by Barbour. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
