Fourth Wing (Standard Edition)

Fourth Wing was an absolute highlight for me! I was completely captivated from the very first page and honestly couldn't put it down. Even though it's quite a long book, you just fly through the pages and every single one of them feels necessary. I absolutely loved the well-developed characters, the detailed worldbuilding and of course the dragons! The perfect mix of fantasy, romance, tension, danger and sectrets completely pulled me into this world. It was exciting, addictive and simply impossible to put it down.

Als Drachenliebhaber musste ich dieses Buch unbedingt lesen - und bin begeistert! Von Anfang an kann man sich die Welt vorstellen, mitsammt dem System und Strukturen. Rebecca Yarros bringt einen zum lachen - aber auch zum weinen. Ihr Schriebstil lässt einen die Geschichte fühlen, als wäre man dabei. Auch die Love Story zwischen Xaden und Violet ist super ausgearbeitet und toll erzählt - und lässt einen definitiv mitfühlen. Eine super Idee mit spannenden Twists und einer tollen Liebesgeschichte dazu - perfekt für alle Drachenfans!

Let me preface this: I don't usually do fantasy. Or new adult books. Or spice. But, working in the industry, I was curious to understand what all the fuss was about. So I read the sample on the website and, having been hooked already, bought the book. I read all evening. And all through the night. Until 4:30 am. (I had work at 8:30 am). Flew through the entire book in three working days, which left me breathless and very tired. But I get it now. It's a bit like the vindaloo version of the "Hunger Games", just with more spice and fire - both from the dragons and the insanely hot people. "Fourth Wing" is a tale about friendship, loyalty, and inner strength. But it is also about a magical world, power dynamics, and Romeo & Juliet style love. It basically draws on all the elements that have characterised successful stories throughout the ages. Told in a thoroughly contemporary voice, peppered with the thoughts of dragons who have a deliciously dry sense of humour. Is it prize-worthy literature? Who am I to judge? But is it great fun? Absolutely. To test its universal appeal, I took the experiment a step further and sent it to my elderly mother. She likes "Game of Thrones", "Vikings", and "Outlander", so I thought she might be a good test subject. These are the texts I received within 24 hours. "Thank you for the book, but, OMG, it has 800 pages (German version). This is going to take me ages." "Oh, this is right up my street." "I've already read 250 pages - cannot put it down." "Could you send me volume 2?" Case closed. So if you're even remotely considering this and feel up for some light entertainment and a little bit of smut, give it a try.

Fourth Wing ist ein Traum für alle, die Drachen, College und schonungslose Fantasy lieben. Man kriegt hier nicht nur einen wahnsinnig attraktiven Love Interest und eine taffe Protagonistin, sondern auch die besten Nebencharaktere, die man sich vorstellen kann. Einfach die geballte Ladung Action, Humor und Spice. Ein Hype, der es Wert war.

Let´s just say: The hype is real! If Eragon and any good Academy book had a gifted child – Fourth Wing would be it. Violet as a protagonist is so relatable and loveable. She shows that people with a disability can be as powerful or even way more powerful than anybody else. Also, I am a big fan of Tairn and his grumpyness. It´s making me smile every time! Every fantasy fan should read this book.
