I live in you; and you would die for me, I love you so.
This is definitely one of my new favorite books now! It’s so short lived and fast paced but with still enough story. It’s a a gothic novella in the vampire genre, published 25 years before „Dracula“. The story follows young Laura, who lives in her father’s isolated Styrian castle and forms an eerie friendship with the mysterious Carmilla, who turns out to be a vampire. I love how the author writes the female characters and I would have loved to read more about Laura & Carmilla! -

Carmilla is the original vampire story that inspired Bram Stoker‘s Dracula. This queer gothic romance has a lot of sexual tension between Carmilla (the vampire) and Laura (her prey). Very gripping and eerie! -

This book is abaut Laura, a young woman isolated with her father an a few servants in the Austrian forrests, and Carmilla, who seems like a young woman, has a very strange behaviour and is always surrounded by an aura of aloofness. Toghether they share many meaningful moments. As the first of its kind this is the mother of vampire novels. A must read when you love the origin of forementioned and most likely lesbians.
