This could have been great
A great premise for a collection of horror stories that sadly does not live up to its potential. A handful of stories are great but the majority are not very well crafted and either feel rushed or hollow. Yes, these are technically YA stories but I expected at least some creepy atmosphere and a few scares but almost all of them are very tame in terms of real horror. The other part that disapointed me is the fact that a collection of stories from and about Black voices in horror almost completely lacked the social and political commentary great horror can provide. There are a few highlights but the rest is pretty bland.
