Immortality: A Love Story the New York Times bestselling tale of mystery, romance and cadavers

A love story with plot twist and real historical aspects. Also loving that medicine takes a part in the story. This book got me laughing & crying. I really loved both books so much.

Hopelessness and despair are followed by the glitz and glamour of the royal court and a mysterious secret society… „Immortality“ is the more than worthy sequel to Dana Schwartz‘ „Anatomy“ and just as enjoyable to read. It is quite different, though. To me, it felt less dark than the first book - apart from Hazel’s stint in prison, of course. There is way less blood and fewer dead bodies and the setting changes from Edinburgh to London. The fantastic elements of the series are also more apparent and it becomes obvious that we find ourselves in an alternate history kind of setting. I really enjoyed reading about Hazel’s new assignment, the secret society and loved the way the author made historical figures her own. The new characters introduced in this book are great additions and make the story more diverse, fun and serious all at the same time. Also, the way politics plays a not so small role in this installment was really interesting to me. Since it wasn’t quite clear what happened to Jack at the end of the first book, I was a bit anxious until that particular question was finally addressed and I have to say that I really loved the way it was resolved. The ending was quite satisfying as well, which I appreciate. If you love reading stories about tough female protagonists that are ahead of their time, enjoy alternate history settings or are simply looking for something with a gothic feel to it, you should definitely read this series.

Immortality ist der zweite und abschließende Teil der Reihe "Anatomy" Wir befinden uns wieder Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts und ich liebe das Zeitalter einfach total. Die Autorin hat die Handlungsorte sowie die Charaktere so bildhaft geschildert, dass sich die Szenen vor meinem inneren Augen abgespielt haben. Hazel bleibt eine starke und taffe Protagonistin, die ihre Fähigkeiten als Chirurgin unter Beweis stellt. Was Jack letztendlich passiert ist lasse ich euch selber herausfinden um nicht zu spoilern. Anatomisch gesehen war es natürlich wieder perfekt. Wenn man selber aus der Medizin kommt ist das ganze einfach super interessant. Wenn man jedoch nicht so sehr auf Leichen, Zerstümmelungen und Operationen steht sollte man die Reihe wohl eher nicht lesen. Ich habe dieses Buch mit Begeisterung begonnen aber leider hat mich die Geschichte ungefähr ab der Mitte nicht mehr gepackt. Liebesgeschichte oder Krimi, Fantasy oder Historischer Roman? Mir hätte die Geschichte deutlich mehr gefallen wäre man im vorstellbaren geblieben und nicht ins Fantasy reingerutscht. Die Story hätte meiner Meinung nach auch super ohne das ganze "Tinktur Ding" geschrieben werden können. Aber das ist halt mein Geschmack. Der Schreibstil von Dana Schwartz ist auch in diesem Teil sehr flüssig, wodurch sich das Buch wunderbar lesen/hören lässt.
