I actually bought this book because of the amazing cover design to be honest. I did not expect much of it and thought of it as a sweet teenage witch story about a few people who discover their magic abilities. While that still was kinda the case, this book turned out to be much more than that. First of all instead of being all sweet and so it turned out to be quite dark and mysterious. The protagonist is flawed and kind of an outcast but (or maybe because of that) very relatable and for me also very likable. Also, I did not expect how inclusive this book would be and how well it would portray all the different characters. All in all, I must say I was very impressed by this and am looking forward to reading the next part of the series.

No, I did not pick this because of the cover design.... Just to be clear, I also really enjoyed the plot. There is a lot going on, many different issues, the missing friend and the mysterious tarot deck. I liked Maeve, as the main character a lot, she has some genuine character flaws and that makes her more relatable and her awkwardness is really something I can relate to a lot... The whole Tarot plot is right up my street and I just loved, how the pictures of the tarot cards were scattered throughout the book. The perfect quirky, magical YA read!
