    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    10-star worthy!

Amongst the flood of self-help books dealing with mental health issues, Sarah Wilson's "Beast" stuck out immediately. It is not only its somewhat quirky chapter divisions but also Wilson's rather unique style of writing. On every page, this book feels more like a most personal journal and/or a deeply reseached column instead of a dryly and foreseeably structured piece of non-fiction. When I researched her biography after a few chapters, I was not surprised to find out that Wilson is in fact a journalist and TV presenter. Even though her lifestyle and background is rather privileged and cannot be related to by everyone, I just picked out the parts that spoke to me and I had so many moments of "smashing my hand against my forehead" because of the utter truthfulness of her words and experiences that this book became an irreplacable treasure. I would even go so far as to say that it is not per se a book about depression and anxiety but more or less a journey through constant restlessness - which is in fact a common feeling of our fast-moving reality.
