I don't want to say that I expected anything else. But I was pleasantly surprised. The tone, somewhat reminiscent of Nietzsche and Dostoyevsky, takes on an invigoratingly delicate sound, especially towards the end, that makes you want to embrace the toxic townie. Somewhat dark, shadowy and melancholic, but never without idealism, never without a ray of hope and, above all, hope.

am used to reading lyrical and dense poems classically toned and studded with symbolism reflecting her commitment and relevance to ancient wisdom. Here the author is in a very different mode, a much more accessible work and she continues to shine in this paired down and less important work. It’s a flash of an incident that could affect anyone but beautifully observed and sincere in its internal monologue. It had me gripped from the start with all the tension described I found myself completely knotted and living in its pages . It runs like a motion of details and inner feeling, it knots itself and us in the process, and then the robe eases off to a whif of relief in the form of Humanity and kindness experienced. it flows so effortlessly to this point of purity and good intentions and asserts faith in humanity once again rather than chasing paper balloons of rhetoric. A great read that is definitely worth spending time with….. life affirming!!
