    Buch (Taschenbuch)

Fun With Arrows and Emotional Trauma

Teenagers forced to fight to the death on live TV. Katniss is amazing, the world is terrifying, and I felt like I needed a shower after every chapter. Honestly, I’d survive zero minutes in this dystopia—but it’s thrilling anyway.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

A must for fans of dystopian fiction

In a dystopian future, the nation of Panem is divided into the shining Capitol surrounded by 12 districts. The Capitol enforces its rule through a brutal annual game: the Hunger Games. Each district has to send one boy and one girl as "tributes" to fight to the death in an arena and everything will be broadcasted live on TV. When her younger sister is chosen as a tribute, Katniss volunteers to take her place. Now she has to prepare for the deadly games that will test not only her strength and instincts, but also her sense of morality and humanity. The author has created a vivid dystopian world that pulls you in from the very first page. Katniss is a strong, complex protagonist whose determination and inner conflict make her deeply relatable. I think it’s great to have such a powerful female main character who shows what woman are capable of and give girls someone they can truly connect with. The supporting characters, especially Peeta and Rue, are adding emotional depth to the story as well. The plot is quite fast-paced and the suspense is maintained throughout the entire book. It’s fascinating to see how Katniss handles the various challenges she faces during her time in the arena. We also get a first glimpse into the complex world of the Capitol and I’m looking forward to learn more about it in the next books. It's definitely a story that stays with you long after you've finished it, and it serves as the perfect start to this series. Highly recommended for fans of dystopian fiction, strong female leads, and thought-provoking storytelling.

Will the odds be ever in your favor... again!

Rereading The Hunger Games was just as thrilling as the first time—if not more! Suzanne Collins’ world-building, the heart-stopping tension, and Katniss’s fierce resilience still had me hooked from start to finish. Even knowing what happens, I found myself completely immersed in the strategy, the stakes, and the emotions. This book remains an absolute masterpiece and a must-read for dystopian lovers. Some stories never lose their magic, and this is definitely one of them!!

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Awesome dystopian sci-fi novel

I loved every single chapter of this book. It’s about poverty, overpolicing of specific areas and the media landscape under capitalism and the characters are written in a very complex and morally grey manner.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

Twenty Four Tributes - One Winner

Truly heartbreaking and inspiring to see the main character Katniss protect the people she loves that fiercely, going as far as taking her sisters place in the hunger games – A deadly competition where only one out of twenty-four kids makes it out alive. Of course, things must get complicated when her fellow campaigner turns out to be the boy who saved her. Will he kill her this time or can she trust his allyship? The Hunger games tell a story about survival, strength and how the tiniest spark can lead to rebellion and change. Collins's writing captivates you immediately, showing her years of experience in script writing, drawing many parallels to the world we currently live in. An important message to be brave even in the face of hopelessness. I go back to this series time after time, since reading it as a teenager. Give it a try and it will stick with you for a long time.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Devastatingly beautiful

After watching the movies for a millionth time I’ve decided to finally start reading the book series and I couldn’t recommend it enough to read these books! Suzanne Collins is an amazing author who takes you into this world full of thrilling events, an unfairness that makes you speechless and unbelievably interesting characters. So if you haven’t seen the movies yet or if you have seen them already, either way, go read the books! It was the best decision to dive into this world and see all the details that you can’t get a hold of in the movies.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Must-Read for everyone!

I know I`m late reading this book. Usually, I don´t really like dystopias but this one catched me within a few pages. The special edition was just too beautiful to leave it behind and I am SO glad that I didn´t. Back then I saw the movie and thought it was okay, but the book is so much better (obvious I know). This book is very important as it shows what could happen if we don´t take care of our world. I love the little hints throughout the story that Panem is now what was North America once before and that this is a world we could end up living in. Aside from that, Katniss is a lovable character who cares so much about her family that she neglects herself in the process and doesn´t really know who she truly is. I really like her, which makes it easy to follow the story, her actions and her emotions.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

As relevant today as it was then...

Hard to believe that The Hunger Games is almost 15 years old. The story of oppression, rebellion and unrest is as relevant in todays world as it was when Suzanne Collins first released this book all those years ago.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

Still one of my all times faves

In my opinion this is the holy grail when it comes to young adult dystopia. The first person perspective, many intrigues and of course the deathly games wont let you take this book down any time soon. I love the charakters, the whole setting and the plot twists. To me one of the best trilogys that I've read to far
