God of Pain

The second book of the Legacy of Gods series. God of Pain is about the daughter of Adrian and Lia: Annika Volkov, and the son of Aiden and Elsa: Creighton King, who are complete opposites. Creighton doesn't talk much, while Annika has this bubbly sunshine personality. Annika is part of the same friend group as Creighton. He immediately catches her attention, and she tries talking to him a few times, but he blocks every attempt of hers. That is, until Annika is looking for a fake boyfriend to stop her father from arranging a marriage for her. Not only does that make Creighton jealous, but he also starts paying attention to her. At first, I didn’t like Creighton that much, because he was so aloof and indifferent, but the more I read, the more I warmed up to him, especially after his heartbreaking backstory. Annika and Creighton have a lot of chemistry and fit together perfectly, despite being opposites. Ohhh, and I was over the moon to see one of my favorite couples as parents: Aiden and Elsa!!! I adore them so much, and they were so sweet, ughhh ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡!!! In God of Malice, I rewarded Asher with the Worst Father award, but now it's time to award one of the best fathers in the book world: (even more dramatic drum roll... ) Aiden King !!! Not only is he the sweetest father, he's also the best uncle. The way he treated Landon made my heart melt. He´s just the best! Aiden is hands down one of the best fathers out there (I said what I said) (¬ ᴗ ´¬). To finish this review: God of Pain is an incredible book, I really enjoyed reading it. The reason I’m only rating this book four out of five stars is that there were a few parts that felt a little drawn out. Still, I can absolutely recommend reading it, especially if you love dark romance. •Opposites attract•grumpy x sunshine•forced proximity

I was excited for this one because I wanted to see who Creighton was behind his mask of silence. And behind that mask was a lot of pain. I liked that the dynamic between Creigh and Annika was different than the one between Killian and Glyn, that way it doesn´t get boring to read the series. Also, Annika was too girlie and extroverted for my liking in the beginning, so I was happy that Creigh was so dark that it made the extreme difference between them interesting. And I didn´t even start yet about the drama! I give only four stars because the ending was too pushing for a “happy” ending when there shouldn´t have been one. Aside from that: Great book.

Annika Volkov, the mafia princess of the Volkov’s, is a protected little woman who has traits that makes her more curious than she should be. Especially ever since the one she shouldn’t want, forced his way into her room. Creighton King is not a talkative person, especially when it comes to being around other people. And it’s been obvious since the first book that Annika has a crush on Creighton, wanting to spend more time with him. But why is he so ignorant and cold? He carries his past around, not wanting to break other people. But Annika is so curious, will she break at his hands? Once her mother finds out, she wants them to break up as she tries to protect her youngest daughter. A chaotic love as Creighton’s pain gets to the surface.

Way better than the first book!! I actually enjoyed Creighton and Annika. I think they were really cute and had a great dynamic. I especially loved how Creighton was the only one that treated Annika just differently than her family. He was actually listening to her, and he trusted her with her decisions. Well, Creighton was a bit too jealous for me, which is why I was skeptical, but besides that, I really like his character. I also think he went through some small development, which I loved reading about. Anika is such a sweetheart but also a real badass. She has such a bubbly personality and is constantly yapping about something. But when it comes to the people she loves, she won’t hesitate and will protect them with her life. SPOILER!!! What I didn’t like was how some characters handled the situation when Annika HAD to shoot Creighton. I get they were upset, but the fact that they acted like she had no reason or that they wouldn’t have done the same in her situation really pissed me off. Also when Creighton kidnapped Annika at the end, it was kind of a bit of a down for me in the book. But besides that, I think it was a really good book, and I enjoyed it!
