Viewing mannerism in the 21st century: The publication presents highlights from the print collection of Georg Baselitz, one of todays most celebrated artists, and a selection from the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapests collection. Exploring artists collecting old master prints in the past and today, the book does contain well known and previously unpublished mannerist works.
Georg Baselitz and his collection of mannerist prints is highly renowned and has been widely praised. The publication presents an extensive selection from the collection, accompanied by works of the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, allowing a comparison of the character of an artist's collection with that of a museum. Essays by eminent international experts discuss up-to-date aspects of artists collecting, and mannerist prints from the contemporary point of view. A recent exclusive interview with Baselitz reveals motivations and stories behind his peerless collection.
Including master works from: Arcimboldo, Dürer, Antonio Fantuzzi, Léon Davent, Geoffroy Dumonstier, Juste de Juste, Parmigianino, Andrea Schiavone, Ugo da Carpi, Domenico Beccafumi, Hendrick Goltzius, Lucas Cranach, Hans Sebald Beham, and many more.
