Kaufman, A: Isles of the Gods

01.09.2023 I LOVED IT! I would definitely be telling this story to my kids someday, that’s why I read! I started this book, thinking that I would hate it and I was proven wrong. I have always wanted to read about pirates, and I remember this book coming to my local bookstore and I thought to myself I have to buy this. The name alone is a masterpiece. As I said, I started this book and it was kind of slow, and I thought to myself. When is this gonna start for real and when is the adventure gonna start? BOOM. ACTION AND ADVENTURE. And I enjoyed every second of it. Some aspect of the book I found unnecessary. Like the five different POVs but as time went by I understood their importance. But there were still unnecessary stuff. Also this book ended on a cliffhanger! I’m excited for the next book! I LOVED SELLY, KEEGAN, LEANDER even Jude sometimes. Laskia is a well written villain and I hated her as intended by the author. Keegan, if you need another fiancé… I’m here…. Lol

Selly träumt davon eines Tages Kapitänin zu sein. Jetzt ist sie ein Schiffsmädchen auf der der Kleinen Lizabetta. Ein Fremder betritt das Schiff und sie setzen in der Nacht die Segel. Der Fremde ist Prinz Leander von Alinor, mächtig und auch attraktiv. Er soll einen Krieg verhindern und die Götter gut stimmen. Ohne es zu merken, wird Selly zur Anführerin einer lebensgefährlichen Mission.Ich kann nur sagen dieses Buch darf man nicht verpassen. Das Lesen ist spannend und packend zugleich. Man liest eine Geschichte mit einer fantasievollen Welt voller Mythologie, Magie und Gefahren. Eine Protagonistin begibt sich auf eine Reise, um auf einer Insel die Wahrheit aufzudecken auf der mächtige Gottheiten leben. Mir ist aufgefallen mit welche guten Detail die Umgebung beschrieben wird. Die Protagonisten werden alle mit ihren eigenen Wünschen, Schwächen und Motivationen gut gezeichnet. So kann man sie sich gut vorstellen. Das Lesen ist unterhaltsam, packend und ich warte bereits auf eine Fortsetzung.

I read this book about a month ago and I can't stop thinking about it. The whole book plays in a magical land which is on the brink of war with one of its neighbors. It follows a girl named Selly who's a sailors daughter and actually just wants to see her farther again. Though through some bad luck she gets herself caught up in the middle of the war and has to protect a very important person on their travel over the seas. The book has 5 pov, so not only do we follow Selky who is trying to prevent the war, but also the sister of a mafia boss who is trying to start the war in order to profit of it. The other 3 characters are also highly entertaining to read and all in all this was probably the best book I've read so far this year.
