Meine letzte Rezension The Phoenix King von Aparna Verma
Elena is the sole heir to the Ravani throne, with her mother dead and no siblings. Her father keeps her away from court business, shadowing her and trying to protect her from the menace of the political world the throne expects. The hunger of power and how the Phoenix is starving for their pain. Yassen has been enslaved since he was a boy for assassins. When he finally sells his comrades for a pardon and follows his childhood friend to the kingdom of the desert that has once been his home, he doesn't expect to be accepted. He understands that he has done wrongs that cannot be fixed or forgiven in so short a time. This book was very heavy. The writing style is somewhat okay to follow, but there were a lot of words that I didn't understand. The fact that the chapters were written like they were created a distance so that I couldn't properly get attached to the characters, and when some of them died, it didn't hit me as hard as I would've wanted to. However, the ending was nice enough.

    Mother of Death and Dawn

The plot twists in this book were absolutely...shocking. I am still, to this day, years after reading it, taken aback by everything that happened in this series. It's my favorite series of all the books I've ever read. Carissa Broadbent is a master in writing books and inventing stories. I loved the character arcs the most. We could follow their perspectives and thoughts easily, understand their decisions, and most of all, feel with them. The ending had me by the throat, so be ready to suffer just like I did (positive)!

    Winter Gods and Serpents

A merciless princess hell-bent on revenge, lustful for blood with dark humor and snarky remarks to match. A bodyguard full of promises and secrets, pining after someone who despises his guts and wishes to have his heart not to cherish it, but to crush it. I cannot put into words how much I loved this series. It is gorgeous, amazing, and everything I was looking for in romantasy for such a long time. I could not put the book down, couldn't even make myself blink from how invested I was. I must admit, I was a little lost in the beginning with all the different names of people and places, but as the story continued and I stayed committed, it became as easy as breathing. I was so tense the whole time I was reading, and I couldn't wait to get to the next line, paragraph, page and chapter. And quicker than I could realize, I was done with 4 books and a huge book-hangover and the sweetest ache in my heart. I will never stop recommending these books for those who love a true enemies-to-lovers, a morally dark FMC and a shadow daddy as love interest, with side characters who are amazing and well-developed, and a writing style that is fluid and easy to follow.

I think we all loved Mishe from the Serpent and the Wings of Night, and we finally get her POV and some of her past in this book. I loved every second of it. From the deeper understanding of the Shadowborn magic, to the rest of the world in this series, to the new characters that are introduced... It was amazing. I also really liked the love interest in his brooding way, and how he thawed with Mishe. I will forever recommend Carissa Broadbent for fans of fantasy and deep worldbuilding.

    Kingdom of Ash

The whole Throne of Glass series has taken me on such an interesting path. Every emotion was reached. From joy at simple and friendly conversations between friends, to anger when something didn't go by plan, to anguish with everything that happens, and finally heartbreak at the crescendo that was the ending. I couldn't imagine a better ending for this series, and I am so glad that I binge-read the whole thing. It submerged me fully within the mind-blowing experience.

I Fell in Love with Hope

They're all going to die. But the journey? No words are fit to describe it. This book absolutely tore out my heart and I still haven't recovered from it, even after years of having finished it. Gorgeous prose, beautiful telling, a poignant story about friendship and survival against all odds. Please beware of TWs and ready a whole lot of tissues, you're going to need them.

    Insatiable. Deluxe Edition

I am OBSESSED with this book. I don't want to give too much away, but this book is dark in a way that I wish more dark romance books were. No abuse between the MCs, only misunderstandings over the past. Kade and Stacey keep dancing around each other, pulling each other in, and giving in a little more with every encounter. They have a chemistry that is unrivaled, so much tension that I could burst. This book is so complex for the ~350 pages it has, and I loved the plot and backstories. It has flashbacks from Kade's POV, and please, the *yearning*! Every character makes choices that don't contradict their nature, everything is understandable, every word is expectable—but in the good way. But please, read the TWs as this is a very heavy book and not suited for sensitive readers. I can't wait to read the second book.

    Shield of Sparrows

Odessa isn't a good princess. She isn't skilled with a sword, or spying, or even playing nice. She's just... there. So when the foreign prince claims her as his bride price instead of her sister, all hell breaks lose. Her father wants information on how to get access to the other kingdom's capital, her sister is supportive but jealous, and her husband? He's mute. On this journey, we follow Odessa while she finds herself and friends who like her for who she is instead of just wanting to glean information from her. Yes, it is hard, as a stranger in dangerous lands, but what is more dangerous still, is her attraction to the general. And not to her husband. This book was amazing. I loved it so much and I'm still reeling from the highs and lows that this read has blessed me with. From the world-building, to unique characters, to strange magic, it was all covered here. And the tension? Boiling-hot. This is absolutely a 5/5 stars read for me. I can't recommend it enough!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Special Edition 'Illustrated Anniversary'

Addie, the protagonist, made a deal with the Dark when she was younger to escape a mariage she didn't want. The deal made her immortal, but with a price: as soon as people don't see her anymore, they forget her. She becomes familiar with the situation and uses it to her advantage, which leads her to stealing a book from a local bookstore. There, she meets Henry, and... he remembers her. Because the next day, she wants to steal one again, and he confronts her about it. This book gave me goosebumps all over my body. I couldn't put it down. It has such an intricate way of telling a story, and I can only recommend the books written by V.E. Schwab.

This book made me gasp so much. The found-family and the plot was so thick, and the action was perfect. I found it amazing that it delved deeper into the lore of the Grishaverse, and that we got to see some past characters come back. I can recommend it strongly!!!

    Her Soul to Take

Rae is a paranormal blogger, fascinated by everything that could hint at out-of-the-ordinary manifestations. When she moves back to her childhood town, she realizes that there is way more claim to her passion than she'd thought, and she is proven right in her fascination. Leon is a demon, trapped in a contract since too many years, who will stop at nothing to regain his independence and freedom. When their paths meet and instant attraction ignite, they quickly understand that they need to work together against bigger evils that will destroy the world if they do nothing against it. I enjoyed this read so much. The plot and "red string" were super easy to follow, super entertaining, and spicy in the best kind of ways. Rae and Leon fit together like two puzzle pieces cut from the same material and their journey is amazing. Check the TWs!
