Hunted by the Demon's Vow

“Hunted by the Demon’s Vow” is a fast-paced dark romantasy with an intriguing and disturbing premise: once a year, selected women are sent to an island where demons hunt them for seven days. This immediately creates a threatening atmosphere and keeps the tension high throughout the story. I particularly enjoyed Daemon’s inner conflict. Torn between the vow that compels him to protect Vhaena and the darker instincts he is constantly trying to control, he is both dangerous and unexpectedly vulnerable. The chemistry between Vhaena and Daemon develops gradually, making their relationship feel more convincing than an instant attraction would have. The survival aspect, hidden identities, demon politics, and forbidden romance make for an entertaining combination. I also liked the dual points of view, as they allowed me to understand both characters’ fears, motives, and conflicting emotions. At times, I would have liked more depth in the world-building and some of Vhaena’s decisions were difficult for me to understand. A few revelations also felt somewhat predictable. Nevertheless, the story remained gripping and I was eager to discover whether Vhaena would survive the Hunt and whether Daemon could truly remain her protector. Overall, this is an enjoyable and atmospheric read for fans of dark romantasy, morally grey demons, masked heroes, slow-burn tension, and dangerous survival games. Because of the violence and other sensitive themes, I would recommend checking the content warnings before reading.
