A profound exploration of the relationship between spiritual transformation and the deeper meaning of sacred Scripture. In Spiritual Life and the Word of God by Emanuel Swedenborg, the renowned Swedish theologian and mystic examines how genuine spiritual life is formed through obedience to divine truth and an inner understanding of the Word of God. Drawing heavily upon biblical teaching, Swedenborg argues that spiritual growth depends not merely upon outward religious observance, but upon the inward rejection of evil and the cultivation of charity, faith, and sincere devotion. The work explores how the commandments and teachings of Scripture are intended to transform the inner life of the individual. Swedenborg emphasizes that true religion involves living according to divine principles from love of God and neighbour rather than from fear, social expectation, or external habit alone. He also develops his distinctive view that the Bible contains a deeper spiritual sense concealed within the literal text, revealing heavenly realities and the soul's relationship to the Divine. Combining theological reflection, biblical interpretation, and practical spiritual instruction, the book presents Swedenborg's vision of regeneration-the gradual purification and renewal of human life through alignment with divine order. Questions of morality, charity, repentance, and spiritual understanding are examined as essential elements in the soul's journey toward heaven. Rich in spiritual insight and rooted in Swedenborg's influential theological system, Spiritual Life and the Word of God remains a significant work for readers interested in Christian mysticism, biblical interpretation, and the inner dimensions of spiritual life.
