"Our Cats and All About Them" by Harrison Weir is one of the earliest comprehensive books on domestic cats, written by a renowned cat enthusiast and artist. Weir, often credited with organizing the first-ever cat show in 1871, brings his deep love and understanding of cats to this extensive work. The book covers a wide array of topics related to the care, history, breeding, and varieties of domestic cats, making it a significant contribution to feline literature in the 19th century. Weir provides a detailed account of different breeds, their physical characteristics, and temperaments, as well as guidance on proper care, feeding, and grooming. The book also delves into the history of cats, their relationship with humans across different cultures, and the evolving perceptions of cats as both companions and working animals. In addition, Weir includes advice on breeding and raising kittens, offering practical insights for cat owners and breeders alike.
