Rezension

Rothfuss  Kingkiller books are among the most read and re-read in our home. It s a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of Hamilton

The best epic fantasy I read last year.... He s bloody good, this Rothfuss guy.
George R. R. Martin, New York Times-bestselling author of A Song of Ice and Fire

Rothfuss has real talent, and his tale of Kvothe is deep and intricate and wondrous.
Terry Brooks, New York Times-bestselling author of Shannara

"It is a rare and great pleasure to find a fantasist writing...with true music in the words."
Ursula K. LeGuin, award-winning author of Earthsea

"The characters are real and the magic is true.
Robin Hobb, New York Times-bestselling author of Assassin s Apprentice

"Masterful.... There is a beauty to Pat's writing that defies description."
Brandon Sanderson, New York Times-bestselling author of Mistborn

[Makes] you think he's inventing the genre, instead of reinventing it.
Lev Grossman, New York Times-bestselling author of The Magicians

This is a magnificent book.
Anne McCaffrey, award-winning author of the Dragonriders of Pern

The great new fantasy writer we've been waiting for, and this is an astonishing book."
Orson Scott Card, New York Times-bestselling author of Ender s Game

It's not the fantasy trappings (as wonderful as they are) that make this novel so good, but what the author has to say about true, common things, about ambition and failure, art, love, and loss.
Tad Williams, New York Times-bestselling author of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn

Jordan and Goodkind must be looking nervously over their shoulders!
Kevin J. Anderson, New York Times-bestselling author of The Dark Between the Stars

An extremely immersive story set in a flawlessly constructed world and told extremely well.
Jo Walton, award-winning author of Among Others

Hail Patrick Rothfuss! A new giant is striding the land.
Robert J. Sawyer, award-winning author of Wake

Fans of the epic high fantasies of George R.R. Martin or J.R.R. Tolkien will definitely want to check out Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind.
NPR

Shelve The Name of the Wind beside The Lord of the Rings...and look forward to the day when it's mentioned in the same breath, perhaps as first among equals.
The A.V. Club

I was reminded of Ursula K. Le Guin, George R. R. Martin, and J. R. R. Tolkein, but never felt that Rothfuss was imitating anyone.
The London Times

This fast-moving, vivid, and unpretentious debut roots its coming-of-age fantasy in convincing mythology.
Entertainment Weekly

This breathtakingly epic story is heartrending in its intimacy and masterful in its narrative essence.
Publishers Weekly (starred)

Reminiscent in scope of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series...this masterpiece of storytelling will appeal to lovers of fantasy on a grand scale.
Library Journal (starred)

The Name of the Wind is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite novel!

Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite novel. The tale of Kvothe's rise to legendary status, his adventures recounted in songs and stories across the world, is nothing short of extraordinary. I’ve never connected so deeply with a protagonist. Kvothe is incredibly intelligent, charming, kind, courageous, and so much more. His perspective on the world is pure, romantic, and simply beautiful. Even years after finishing the book, I still consider Kvothe a steadfast companion. I often find myself reflecting on his words and actions, seeking ways to apply his lessons to my own life. I could wax poetic about Kvothe’s character development for hours, but I could just as easily spend that time discussing the other remarkable aspects of The Kingkiller Chronicle. This series is a masterclass in world-building, seamlessly blending beauty and logic, danger and mystery. Every element of a great novel is present and accounted for. This book is, without exaggeration, essential reading. The novel is exquisitely written, the world meticulously crafted, and the characters are so endearing and intriguing that it’s impossible not to feel like part of their company. Readers will find themselves drawn to Kvothe, loving him as if he were a real person. The Name of the Wind is truly one of a kind.

Character-driven high fantasy of the highest level

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Once I started this book I simply couldn't put it down. The prose and depth in this story are simply amazing. Despite the thorough description of the world and its characters, it never gets too long-winded. Although it has to be said that I, for my part, love high-fantasy stories with lengthy descriptions as well as a strong focus on the characters and their thoughts and feelings. Therefore it could be that I am a bit biased. The magic system is one that I really enjoy. It's really interesting while still being very understandable. Especially the use of the 'Law of Names' is a part of this magic system which I always find fascinating. But what I loved even more were all the different and complex characters our protagonist Kvothe meets along the way. Some of them, especially Auri, grew on me so much. She in particular is such an interesting character and her relationship with Kvothe moved me a lot. There's generally a really nice balance between rather quiet and personal as well as action-packed moments. Lastly, I love Kvothe as the protagonist he is. Yes, he does stupid things and makes unwise decisions all the time, but let's not forget that he is a literal child, later teenager. He's incredibly smart and has some strong and extremely useful talents, but he's clearly not invincible because of his temper and immaturity. It should be frustrating, but instead he's just very lovable in my eyes. I can't stress enough how amazing this story is.

Dieses Jahr soll ENDLICH das Finale meiner Lieblingstrilogie rauskommen....

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)
