Meine letzte Rezension A Study in Drowning von Ava Reid
In this dystopian world the water level is rising, two countries are at war, and their gods are dead poets, that may or may not told the truth about fables hidden in the world of humans. It is cold, rough and has its dark moments throughout the mystery of one dead author, but hope is harder to kill than the King of Faeries. Effy sees scary things nobody else can, often they are visions of the Fairy King, the protagonist of her favorite book “Angharad”. She swears he touched her as a little child on her ring finger which is why it's missing. No one believes her, so she takes medication in hope of not having these visions anymore, but only “Angharad” keeps her sane. Effy is in the architecture college and gets the chance to visit the home of the late author of “Angharad” to save it from drowning. Little does she know about the mysteries of the house, the author and the family left behind. Together with a curious, handsome and sometimes a bit moody literature college guy she tries to figure out what is true and if she can start trusting men again, who usually suppress her in every way possible. An incredibly powerful book that leaves you with goosebumbs!

    Fourth Wing

This fantasy novel is the first book I couldn’t put down in a long time. The world Rebecca Yarros created is full of details, murderous Dragons and a girl who tries to find out where she belongs. Violet is forced to join the deadly program of becoming a Dragon Rider. Not only are the Dragons brutal and reckless, but she also has to deal with her dangerous classmates and cruel lessons. Only the best will survive the school program and fight for the army in the war. Prepare for loss, tears, mysteries, a love chaos and an ending you didn't see coming. PS: it’s totally worth it!

    Powerless

Have you ever felt powerless? Unworthy? Undeserving? Or just not good enough? Then you should definitely read this book. The characters Lauren Roberts creates deal with exactly those feelings and much more. Besides all the pain they are going through, they are still able to make each other laugh, smile and win over hearts. The story of Paedyn Gray is heart taking, she is an ordinary in a world where you are being killed for just that. After she saved the prince’s life, she must show off her power in the Trials. 3 trials to see who the best is. Will she be able to keep her secret and survive? Will her heart be shattered into pieces if she fights for who she really is?

A Court of Thorns and Roses

If Sara J. Maas is talented at one thing, it for sure is creating worlds that will consume you. With this fantasy series she presents a world of fae, humans and other mythical creatures. The humans and fae are separated through a wall, to protect the humans from being hunted by the fae. So how should Feyre know that only she, a human, can save the magic realm from an enemy that no one else will fight against? It’s a story about a woman who is too exhausted to know what she wants and still fights for everyone she loves. A warrior at heart.

The continent is at war and Talasyn's side is loosing. Reaching for straws she finds out that she is more than an orphan, soldier and light wielder. Alaric is the heir of the shadow empire and crosses paths with Talasyn frequently. Will their similarities lead them closer to each other and be enough to leave their past behind, or make their future lifes even more complicated? A book with a narrative perspective and a love that grows slowly. Once you learned a few words and names it becomes very easy to read. It really is worth reading it, especially on a cozy Sunday afternoon!

    The Midnight Library

I will never regret that I have read this book. Matt Haig writes about a woman named Nora, who lost all hope in life. After a series of bad things happening to her, she decides to end her life. She couldn’t know that between life and death lies the midnight library. Its books are versions of her life, if she had decided different in past situations. Will she change her mind, when she sees other possibilities of her life? This book leaves you thinking and points out that we shouldn’t let regrets control our life. This book left me with tears.

    The Hunger Games 1

To keep control over the suppressed districts, the capitol forces 2 children out of every District to fight against each other. Katniss sacrifices herself to protect her sister and the only way to come back home is to survive a slaughter of 23 children. Could someone become a killer if there is no other way out than death? If you win, will you really get out of the bad circumstances you’ve come from? And will you be able to change anything at all if you do? Suzanne Collins shows us a breathtaking Dystopia with so much detail, it’s almost scary. If you’ve ever seen the movies, you should read the books as well!

    The Last Wish.

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher. Born human and turned into a killing machine, hunting for monsters. He isn’t human anymore, which is why he isn’t always welcome. Only those desperate enough ask for his help and pay him to get out of their distress. Surely, he can be brutal, but he never kills if it isn’t necessary and is as loyal to his friends as a true friend can be. This book contains multiple stories out of the time before the actual storyline begins. It gives insight on Geralt and his connections, that become important in the main story. Whoever watched the Netflix TV show will find some chapters that seem familiar, but the book is way better!

    Powerful

Powerful lets you see the story of Powerless through Adenas eyes. Paedyns best friend, who now has to survive on her own. You should definitely read Powerless, before you start reading Powerful. I love that Lauren Roberts gave us a story about a side character, a best friend who usually gets left behind. This novella is a perfect way to pass time until the release of Fearless, the last book of this series.

    Ready Player One

This book is a homage to the 1980’s, old classics and a reminder that we should never stop living in the real world. Reality is much more beautiful than a screen. Ernest Cline shows us a dystopian world in which humanity stops trying to solve problems and rather sinks into the video game OASIS. A Utopia, in which you can be anything you want. The creator of the OASIS dies and whoever finds his hidden easter egg will inherit his fortune and all rights for the OASIS. Wade Watts is obsessed with Halliday and his creation, together with his friends he’s trying to win the contest, before the IOI can find it, who would destroy the beautiful things of the OASIS. I’m hooked

    Women Don't Owe You Pretty

This book criticizes the way women are seen by society and shows you how we are influenced by it, without even knowing. It also reminds you of the possible reactions of your actions and points out that it’s not just one gender who can make someone feel down. Florence Given tells us about her experiences, her change and flaws we should let go of, if we don’t want to be the walls that are keeping us from growing. Even if you don’t think much of feminism or if you are a guy, it’s a book that shows how you should treat the people around you and don’t let them effect your self-esteem.
