nice idea, execution not as great

the book itself isn't written badly and the idea is quite nice, but i found it very hard to really "get into" the story. it's quite straightforward and the ending is obvious. i'm also not a big fan how the topic of depression is handled here, the book is basically saying to "man up" and that depression can be cured with a simple change in mindset, which isn't 100% wrong but it surely isn't as easy as that. all in all, it wasn't my cup of tea and personally i wouldn't recommend it.

The big 'what if'

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

this is one of those books everyone in their twenties should read. Haig took the big, scary 'what if' and made it a whole lot less scary. The story follows a young woman who ttries to kill herself and ends up in a library where she gets the chance to undo her regrets. 'The midnight library' is perfect for anyone struggling with regret or the fear of missing out.

Quite impressive!

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

I think I will never forget this book. I didn't expect much when I started reading it, but it has such a great message. The beginning was a bit rushed for me, and I wasn't sure, if I will like this book or not. But as the story continues it came to me, why it was good like that. In the end, I even saw it as a positive aspect, because it helped me to understand Nora and her decisions. I really liked how Nora was jumping between her lives and how she learned something new about herself every time. All in all, absolutely amazing!
