The Three Clerks is a novel written by Anthony Trollope, first published in 1858. The story is set in London and revolves around three young men who work as clerks in the same office. The three clerks are Harry Norman, Alaric Tudor, and Charley Tudor. Harry Norman is the son of a wealthy merchant and is engaged to a young woman named Gertrude. Alaric Tudor is ambitious and hopes to rise up the ranks in the office, while Charley Tudor is a carefree and irresponsible young man. The novel explores the themes of ambition, love, and morality. It also examines the class system in Victorian England and the challenges faced by young men trying to make their way in the world. As the story unfolds, the three clerks become involved in a financial scandal that threatens to ruin their careers and reputations. The novel follows their struggles to clear their names and restore their honor. The Three Clerks is a classic Victorian novel that provides a fascinating glimpse into the social and economic realities of the era. It is a compelling story of love, ambition, and redemption that will captivate readers of all ages.""Well now, Gertrude, do you mean to say you think it right that Katie should sit by and hear a man talk as Captain Cuttwater talked last night? Do you mean to say that the scene which passed, with the rum and the curses, and the absurd ridicule which was thrown on your mother's uncle, was such as should take place in your mother's drawing-room?""This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
