Ich frage mich ernsthaft, wie die Autorin den Überblick über all diese verzwickten Wege der Charaktere behält. Es ist einfach nur Wahnsinn und ich liebe es! Mein Kopf: weil ich einfach auch nicht mehr Wahrheit von Lüge und andersrum trennen konnte. Die Protagonistin hat mich immer mal wieder genervt, aber sie hat ne gute Entwicklung erlebt und ich freue mich, mehr über sie und die anderen zu lesen. Ich MUSS einfach! Julian hat mein Herz ❤️

Honestly, this book was on my to be read list for a pretty long time and I couldn‘t motivate myself to read it. After I read Once upon a broken heart, which is the first book of a side series and is also set in the world of Caraval, I was hooked on this story. I wanted to know more about this world of promises, intrigues, games and magic. The first book did not disappoint. A world building so dangerous as beautiful, made it really hard to put the book away. I thought the main character Scarlett was boring at first, but I fell in love with her brave heart and devotion for her sister with every page I read. Legend keeps his promise of a legendary adventure and leads you to loose touch with reality.

Caraval, a magical place in which you never know what might be real or what is made to make you go insane and question your own existence. If I were Scarlett, all of these people having to do with Caraval would have ended up in the ER. This poor girl was literally going through it trying to find her sister. This whole book screamed for confusion and I was here for all of it. It felt like a fever dream you could not be awaken from, in a good way? Good thing Julian was here for all of it, Scarlett felt so easy when he was around that somehow anytime his name appeared before me, I actually felt safe as well. Donatella, who was always seen as the troubled and naive little sister, proved us so wrong at the end, I cannot wait to pick up her book and see what her story beholds.

"What happens beyond this gate may frighten or excite you, but don't let any of it trick you. We will try to convince you it's real, but all of it is a performance. A world built of make-believe. So while we want you to get swept away, be careful of being swept too far away." Let me tell you reading this book I really did get swept away! Magic, a mystery to be solved and unexpected and unconditional love. All I could ever want in a book. I'm excited to get to know Tella more in the next two books even though I am sad about not reading so much about Scarlett... Thank you Stephanie Garber for the amazing world of Caraval.
