Geekerella A Fangirl Fairy Tale

I absolutely adore this book. The story is cute, funny and realistic even though it is a "fairytale". Despite it being a love story about a nerdy girl and a popular guy the two main characters are amazingly refreshing. She, the bookish fangirl, is still kicking and super cool, while our Prince Charming is totally shy and quiet. I truly love all the refreshingly right pictured details about fandom life. You did perfect, Ashley Poston!

A cute and heartwarming retelling of the Cinderella Story mixed with the series "Starfield", what seems to be "Star Trek" combined with "Star Wars" and some vibes of "Cinder & Ella". "Geekerella" is a beautiful story that puts a smile on your face.

“Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite.” Two words: Totally adorable. This is a fluffy and light retelling of Cinderella and I freaking adored it! Elle Wittimer is such a relatable geek, I liked her immediately. Her favorite fandom is Starfield which appears to be a mix of Star Trek and Star Wars. She also has an own blog where she talks abouts Starfield. It is multiple times mentioned that she writes fanfiction and I would have loved to see more of that, maybe even an excerpt of one of her stories. I also liked that Elle's stepsisters were not only the bad and mean guys (well, one of them at least) but I would have preferred that her stepmom had more background and depth, she was too one-dimensional for me. Elle's co-worker and friend Sage was definitely my favourite character in this book, she had a sick sassy attitude which was awesome. Darien was a likeable guy but I couldn't fully connect with him throughout the book. This book does have insta-love in it, though a not too strong one but it was to be expected, so I did not mind it very much. All in all, a loveable and heartwarming Cinderella retelling.
