We are the bears from beartown!
This book was something completely different than what I expected - and I loved it! We follow many residents of the small town of Beartown and see the significant role hockey plays in each of their lives. Hockey unites the people there - and also divides them, when an event occurs that forces the residents to confront real life. I absolutely fell in love with Beartown and its inhabitants, and laughed and cried with them! -

This is a story that will cause a lot of feelings: it made me sad and angry, but alsohopeful. As much as this is about sensitive subjects like rape, child abuse and rassim, this is first and foremost a story about a struggeling comunity with a very extensive cast of characters. -

100% recommend it, just not for public reading
This book ripped me to shreds. It made me cry in a train station. I do not recommend this for public transportation, but I do recommend it for everyone to read. I had some issues with the pacing of the novel but overall the story touched me so deeply that I still gave it the highest rating. And I think it is best to go into it, without knowing anything about it!
