Avatar, The Last Airbender: The Rise of Kyoshi (Chronicles of the Avatar Book 1) Volume 1

Einfach ein tolles und spannendes Buch. Für ATLA & LOK - Fans ein Muss. Das Avatar-Universum sollte man vor den Lesen bereits kennen, denn die Welt wird im Buch nicht noch einmal vorgestellt.

Ich musste mich anfangs etwas einlesen, danach hat mich das Buch aber sehr in seinen Bann gezogen. Als grosser Fan der ATLA & TLK Serienreihe, war dies die perfekte Ergänzung zum Avatar Universum. Wir erfahren viel Neues über diese Welt zu dieser Zeit und begleiten Kyoshi auf ihrem steinigen Lebensweg. Sehr zu empfehlen für Freunde der Serie!

Or better said, an older one now tells her story: the wonderful, powerful, legendary Avatar Kyoshi. The Avatar who not only founded the Dai Li in Ba Sing Se and the Kyoshi warriors, but also created a new island to save the people who lived there from a tyrant - no wonder the people called the island "Kyoshi Island" afterwards. But how did a person, who could barely earthbend, master all four elements and accomplish all that. Here is the answer to that! And what an answer it is. I just loved everything about this book - maybe with the exception of the first chapter, but simply because it was not written from Kyoshis perspective - the pacing, the writing, the plot and the characters, especially Kyoshi. If you’re a fan of the Avatar Universe, then this book is a must for you. If you haven't heard anything about it yet, then you should watch the TV-Show first (both Aangs and Korras journey), otherwise it's kinda hard to follow the plot here. The writer clearly assumes that you already know how important the Avatar is and what kinds of bending there are, or what an “Airbison” is. So TV-Show first then this book here, and then - because you'll probably are going to fall in love with this universe - the comics.

Macht einfach Spaß zu lesen, die Welt rund um Avatar wird weiter expandiert und Kyoshi und alle Leute um sie herum sind Charaktere, denen man gerne folgt.

Simply put: I love this book. Kyoshi is such an intriguing character, that I can’t help but love her. And the story is great too. In this book we can clearly see that the Avatar, despite all the power he/she holds, is still human who has his/her faults and makes mistakes. But not only that, we learn more about the characters, we learn new things about all the nations, especially the Fire-Nation. Up until now, we only knew the Fire-Nation as the bad guys, but here we learn about their culture, their people and we meet the Fire-Lord! (And Rangi is there too!!!!) Important info: like the first book in this series, you should only read it, if you’re familiar with the Avatar-Universe. Which means, if you’re not familiar with it, go watch “The last Airbender” and “Legend of Korra”. The shows are great (the comics too btw.)!!!!
