Nona the Ninth

Again a masterpiece of portraying lovely queer fierce sassy and intelligent to the bone characters. The tone of this space ride is naive-positive, while Harrow's book was sensitive-ananlytic, Gideon's sarcastic-powerful. You cried at the end of both books before? You will again.

Considering this book you might have asked yourself something along the lines of: "Who exactly is Nona?" or "Should I read this even though this seems so different from the first two books?" And I can safely say: Yes, absolutely. Oh my God. I had sky high expectations and was not disappointed. This was - as always - a delight to read and left me speechless throughout and by the end of it. Tamsyn Muir is on another level.

Muir never dissapoints. Even if you know from the beginning who Nona is, she still makes you question it. Also the ability to make you simpatize with John after everything? It's brilliant!I cannot wait for the sequel :). How can all possibly play out?

Tamsyn Muir überrascht auch im dritten Teil mit einer mutigen Erzählform. Nona kann sich nur an die letzten sechs Monate erinnern. Entsprechend ahnungslos und naiv ist sie. Dieses Mal hat sich die ungewöhnliche Erzählweise negativ ausgewirkt, denn ich hatte Probleme mich für Nona zu interessieren. Ich wollte wissen, was mit Cam und Palamedes geschehen war und was los ist, aber wir folgen Nona, die nur gelegentlich Teile von Unterhaltungen mitbekommt. Das hat mich frustriert und trägt zu einem verwirrenden Leseerlebnis bei. Die alten Charakteren mochte ich, mit Nonas neuen Freunden konnte ich nichts Anfangen, genauso wie mit ihr selbst. Daher war das Buch für mich recht langweilig. Die erste Hälfte hat sich lange hingezogen. Glücklicherweise nimmt die Sorry im zweiten Teil Fahrt auf. Ein Buch dass ich nur gelesen habe, weil es teil einen Serie ist. Ich empfehle aber, Nona the Ninth erst zu lesen, sobald der letzte Teil der Serie erscheint. Für sich alleine ist das Buch nicht gut genug. Und am Ende wollte ich unbedingt wissen, wie es weitergeht.

After the first book was loaded with action and mystery and the second book with tension and heartbreak, the third one was yet again completely different but still so perfectly fitting into the series. It’s more like a kind of dystopian/apocalyptic coming of age story that is confusing, fun and absolutely entertaining. I absolutely and irrevocably fell in love with this series!
