Sworn Soldier - What Moves The Dead

The horror was quite nice and the twist was in highnsight pretty guessable but not on first read. The characters were well written, especially Mrs. Potter was quite funny in the story. The ending was perfect and closed any open leads. Theres also great potential for a second book. The only criticism I can think of is that theres not much time spent with the MCs pronouns and non-binary persona. Its also a bit weird that they never get disrespected by people who have no logical reason to use kan for example or respect (Spoiler for the first half)her for being a woman. Other than that the book is quite a nice read :D

Creepy, dark and a littel wierd. This story took great inspiration from " The fall of the house Usher".

„There were no stars. It was an overcast night. The sky was dark grey with a sliver of moon just edging through. I looked back down, at a lake full of stars.“ 3.5 Ich habe die Atmosphäre und den poetischen Schreibstil absolut geliebt und werde daher auch auf jeden Fall mehr von der Autorin lesen! Die gesamte Stimmung war perfekt. Düster, creepy, sehr viel Herbst in Buchform. Gleichzeitig fand ich den Plot aber trotzdem nicht so überraschend und die Geschichte war an sich einfach sehr kurz. Umso mehr mochte ich die Dialoge und die Story an sich. Ich glaube, andere Bücher von T. Kingfisher werden mich absolut überzeugen und das war der perfekte Einstieg für einen gefährlich kribbelnden Herbst!
