The Lies We Steal

Since reading the Devils Night series i have been looking for the same type of revenge found family story and now i found it! Somehow this book has it all! Dark Academia, revenge, thrill and suspense, and a family that isn’t bound by blood. We follow a group of extremely privileged young man who seek answers and revenge for the strange loss of one of their own. Briar is caught in the crossfire of their ruthless plans and gets involved in a dangerous scheme that grows much deeper in the high society of hollow Heights than anyone would imagine.

When my friend begged me to start reading this book series, I didn’t realize I should have listened to her much sooner! I can’t put into words how much I loved this and every other book in the Hollow Boys series. The characters are so complex and diverse, but you love them all. The storyline was something I’d never read before. It was pretty dark, but I still felt cozy because I’m just a huge fan of the Dark Academia setting. Everything just clicked perfectly for me. Briar and Alistair had me hooked right away. I also have to say that, as someone who isn’t actually a huge fan of slow burn, I was really excited by the storyline and how Briar and Alistair developed as a couple. The two of them still always had such good tension and great chemistry. Even when they didn’t interact in a chapter, you still really wanted to keep reading, just because of the story and the other characters. When I read this book, I felt nostalgic simply because it had been a long time since I’d read a dark romance book that I enjoyed this much. I can wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend Monty Jay and her books.
