How much does a mother's love endure?

Florence Grimes has lost in life, the girlband she was part of in her 20s relaunched without her, the only person in her life is her 10 year old son and she is too broke to be respected by the other mothers at her sons school. When suddenly her son Dylan seems to be the main suspect in a missing child case, she is certain of one thing. She will do anything to protect her child. That's why she finds herself in a private investigation, with an other mother to find Dylan's missing class mate. Throughout the book we get to know Florence and her past, which explains her character traits und how she acts in certain situations. I really liked Florence character development and how she started building relationships outside of the ones she absolutely needs. I enjoyed the twists in the story and how much Florence cared about her son. Sarah Harman wrote a great book, I'm sure that anyone who likes to read general fiction and also enjoys crime is going to love this book.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    I kinda hate her too...

I can't say I particularly enjoyed reading this book. I was wondering about why they chose a title like that and after only a few pages I had the answer. Florence is insufferable. She can't accept a reality where she is not the main character in the lives of the people around her, and she is not a good mum to her son Dylan. Actually, I think everyone in this books kinda sucks. There was not a single character I found likeable and the plot wasn't great either. It only really got interesting towards the end, which took me several days to reach, considering Florence annoyed me so much that I had to force myself to keep reading.
