How do we face our end?
Slow Gods is a wonderfully philosphical space opera that explores themes of destiny and the meaning of life. Set to the backdrop of a catastrophic supernova event, the story follows Mawukana na-Vdnaze, or Maw for short, as he is dragged into the ensuing chaos. Through the various alien cultures Maw encounters, North explores the way in which people approach their inevitable doom, or lack thereof. I was hooked from the first chapter, and thoroughly enjoyed both Maw's character development and the story as it unfolded.
