Meine letzte Rezension The strength of the few von James Islington
Eine hervorragende Fortsetzung von „The Will of the Many“. Ich war fasziniert davon, wie die Herausforderungen, denen sich die verschiedenen Versionen von Vis die in diesem buch erscheinen stellen müssen, ihre charakterliche Entwicklung prägen. Auch ihre unterschiedlichen Verständnise von den Ereignissen des ersten Buches haben dazu beigetragen, dass mich dieses Buch völlig in seinen Bann gezogen hat. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, herauszufinden, welche Folgen der Höhepunkt dieses Buches auf die Fortsetzung haben wird.

Eine hervorragende Fortsetzung von „The Will of the Many“.     A fascinating and heartfelt example of a "book within a book", this novel follows Zelu, a paraplegic black woman of Yoruba and Igbo descent, on her rise to fame as a sci-fi author. Chapters of the novel she writes, 'Rusted Robots', as well as 'interview' chapters with the supporting characters, are included within the book and serve to frame Zelu's story. Zelu's struggles with her mental health, family relationships, and her fame keep this novel wonderfully grounded in reality even as its sci-fi aspects soar. An absolute must read!

    The will of the many

    Ich war ab dem ersten Kapitel von diesem Buch gefesselt und habe es dadurch in nur wenigen Tagen verschlungen. Vis, beweist sich von den ersten Seiten als einer der klügsten und interessantesten Charaktere, die ich in der letzten Zeit gelesen habe. Fast keine von den unterstützenden Charakteren wirkte flach. Die Geheimnisse der Catenische Republik und die auf der "Willen basierten Magie" fühlten sich erfrischend neu an. Durch mehrere Twists in der Handlung, war ich oft überrascht und total begeistert. Der Grundstein für eine neue Bestseller-Reihe ist in meinen Augen gelegt und ich warte deshalb nun mit angehaltenem Atem auf den nächsten Band.

    To Be Taught, If Fortunate

    This question is at the core of this Novella. An at times haunting but overwhelmingly beautiful exploration of what the near future of space travel could look like, this story is, as always, grounded in Chambers's wonderful characters, their thoughts, and the challenges they face. At the same time, this story does not ignore the current issues our society faces in favor of a hyper advanced future and instead addresses these with the same gentle and masterful touch I have come to adore from Chambers's writing. This was an afternoon more than worthily spent devouring this wonderful little book.

    The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet

    Meet the crew of the Wayfarer, a mixed group of Aliens from all corners of the Universe working to build new interstellar tunnels with their tunneling ship. Once again, Chambers manages to build an instantly believable universe with equally compelling characters that have you rooting for them from page one. Through her use of multiple perspectives we get a look into each of the characters thoughts and their feelings about the universe around them. This found family of misfits will worm its way into your heart and have you wishing for more.

    A Psalm for the Wild-Built

    This short-but-sweet sci-fi novel is like taking a deep breath of fresh air after a long and stressful day. It is a gentle reminder that a better future where human live with respect for nature and each other is possible. Furthermore, it is also a personal exploration of the sometimes incessant drive to find your purpose in life. The stakes of this story are low, and it is driven by its wonderful characters. I recommend enjoying it curled up under a soft blanket with a warm mug of tea in hand!

    A Prayer for the Crown-Shy

    Having left the wilderness of the first novella behind, Dex and Mosscap journey into Panga's wonderful civilization. Mosscap begins to ask its important question of the people that it meets, and is continously suprised as well as delighted along the way. This story was as relaxing to read as the first one, and had a similarly comforting message. Where the first novella focused on the need for purpose (or lack thereof), this one emphasizes that it is also okay to change your mind along the way. This series will definitely be a go-to pick whenever I need a break from the everyday stresses that plague our own society.

    As soon as I read the description, I knew I had to give this book a try, and I am so glad I did! Imagine a Universe wide brodcasted reality telivision show in the vein of Survivior, but with all the same rules as a Dungeons and Dragons game or your favorite video game. That's exactly the situation Carl finds himself in, when one evening in the middle of winter, aliens return to earth to harvest the humans they planted here thousands of years ago for their blockbuster dungeon crawling show. Its funny, its gritty, its surprisingly touching and its dripping with pop culture in a way that makes my little nerd heart sing.

    This memoir cleverly disguised as a fictional story follows the life of Nanako Hanada. Hanada, after seperating from her husband and feeling as if she is at rock bottom, decides to join an App which allows her to set up 30 minute meetings with strangers. She makes it her goal to recommend these strangers the perfect book, drawing at her experience of working at a bookstore. Along the way, and with the help of the strangers she meets, Hanada slowly realizes the changes she needs to make in her life in order to become happy. It is an uplifting story about finding yourself and your place in the world, even when everything seems to be falling apart.
