The Lake Poets An Anthology

I bought this anthology in preparation for my vacation in the Lake District, England, and it surely didn't disappoint. It was exactly what I was looking for. This anthology shows a small collection of the greatest poets of that time and region, as well as a short biography and some historical context. I was familiar with Wordsworth, but, for example, Charles Lamb meant nothing to me. I was particularly surprised by Dorothy Wordsworth and her impact on her brother's work, who is arguably the most famous of all the Lake Poets. It also shows that, even at their time, they lived a completely different reality from the other habitants in the Lake District and even distanced themselves from them, not only from the bourgeoisie of the London high society. I'm not a native speaker, and of course I had to google a lot, but it was absolutely worth sticking with. I can't wait to feel what they felt, because now I'm more certain than ever that the Lake District is magical and a place out of this world.
