The Strength of the Few Hierarchy

Let's just jump right in because that's exactly what the second book in the "Hierarchy" tetralogy does: INSANE. This book is completely nuts (in the best way obviously). I'm not sure if I could count the times my mouth stood agape on both of my hands. I'd love to talk way more about the story and the characters and what they did to me but if I did that you wouldn't have to read the book anymore. I'll just say I'm amazed at the way two books of one series fit together so perfectly while having wildly different vibes at the same time. So please - just read "The Will Of The Many" and "The Strength Of The Few", I BEG YOU. You still have time before the third one comes out so let's go!

While I loved the first book, this one just couldn't keep up. After months of trying to finish this one, I had do DNF it. I still enjoyed the world, I liked the characters and the story itself was still catching, but somehow Islington's descriptions make is hard for me to fully picture what the world looks like (obviously this one might be on me). What also bugged me was how easy everything is to the protagonist - no matter what skill he has to learn or what fight he has to fight, everything ends up coming to him naturally. A bit to much of "The Chosen One" for my liking. Having started Robin Hobb's The Farseer Trilogy in between - a masterpiece of modern fantasy - finally made me put this book down.
