The Book to Finish Summer With

"Call Me By Your Name" by Andre Aciman is a brilliantly written story of love, finding your soulmate and growing up. You will be absolutely mesmerised by Italian summer setting and the main character's narration, full of anxieties, longing, and passion. It is impossible not to fall in love with this book and remain indifferent to the charming "Later!" If you are looking for some nostalgia, slow burn, beautifully conveyed emotions and "things that matter", CMBYN is the perfect choice!

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

“If you remember everything, [...] then before you leave tomorrow, [...] look me in the face, hold my gaze, and call me by your name.”

For Elio, it's nothing new that his parents take in a student at their summer house. He knows they come and go, another one every year. But with Oliver, everything is different - he is different. He, the American author with his nonchalant demeanor, his charming smile, and his signature "Later!". And before Elio knows what's happening, he's already fallen in love with the man who is seven years older. I thought the film was wonderful, and this year I finally read the book. It is and remains a tragic love story between two men who know from the beginning that this can only be a summer romance. And yet, this brief time together leaves a lasting mark, especially on young Elio. In the end, Oliver may leave the summer house - but he never leaves Elio's heart. Just beautiful. Have tissues ready while reading. You will probably need them, especially towards the end.

    "Later!"

I totally fall in love with this book! Even if it´s not that new, there is at last a beautiful hardback edition with nice paper and a pleasant layout. The novel is a perfect choice for chilly beach days and for everyone who wants to read something that is heartwarming, kind and easy to read, but also beautifully written. I´m going to see the movie next! What about you?

    A beautiful Coming-of-age novel

A beautiful book about a sudden and powerful love story between 17-year-old Elio and his fathers' house guest Oliver, during a restless summer on the Italian Riviera. Honestly, I cannot tell you how much i loved this. Aciman's writing style is from another dimension, this is one of those books you read for the enjoyment of language. So much in this book is internal and i found myself rereading a lot of the sentences because they simply touched me. Don't get me wrong, the story itself is great and i absolutely love the setting. Sometimes while reading, I imagine myself being there, with Oliver and Elio. Probably eating a peach. Wait what. I am going to shut up now, i won't do this book justice anyway... read it!

This book is delightful and heartbreaking at the same time. A summer in Italy, a meaningful friendship and a lovestory which got under my skin.
