Some cuties and a baking show

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Is it adorable? Yes absolutely. Is it a comfort read? For sure. But i never want to be part of Paris' brain ever again. The mental health representation is on point and Paris is a mess like nothing else. I love Alexis Hall's style and how the author describes Paris' problems, but in the time I`ve read this book I even struggled a bit because of the good representation. Sometimes it was exhausting to keep track of Paris' thoughts but the dynamic between him an Traiq made everthing a little better. In the story I had once or twice the impression, that the baking show was only a marginal phenomenon for the book. In the end ít was an absolute comfort read and I struggle, but I had a very pleasant time with the gay disaster and the little other gay, who fall so hard for him. Love them, make sure you have some snacks while you read this!

Alexis Hall + Baking competition + anxiety rep? Count me in

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

As soon as I saw the first ad for this book, I had to preorder it. A baking competition with queer contestants and anxiety rep? Sounded too good to be true.. but I have to admit, it's my least favorite book by Hall so far. I loved the many different characters, the setting design, the idea itself, but the anxiety part was over the top. As a person with anxiety and panic attacks I thought that this was simply too much, it was sickening. There's also the constant need for a Happy End. Sometimes it's more realistic if not everything turns out 100% perfect in the end. I mean, it wasn't 100%, but you get the drill.
