Powerless

Was I anticipated to read about Jasper? Totally and I love it. This story is very well written. The love story about Jasper and Sloane is told from both POVs in the first person. I prefer this way of writing because it helps me to be more involved in the characters, their emotions and actions and to reflect better about them. In my perspective Sloane and Jasper are reliable characters. I was always present in their story and could understand their feelings and actions. If I was always in sinc with them is another story, but I felt everything which makes this book my favorite in the series this far (more to read). As the authors note mentioned there are some themes described that might need some attention before reading this book. Infos my humble opinion, their handled in a realistic and caretaking way. The tension and chemistry between Sloane and Jasper is realistic and palpable from the beginning. I could relate to this overwhelming feelings. Long time they're only allowed themselves to see each other as friends or family members (little info: They're not related to each other!). They're very close to each other and catch feelings and not everyone is prepared to have their feelings slipping through their tongue. This all is normal and very realistic, specially when friendship is on the hook. Conclusion: It's my favorite in the series this far. Loved the tension, the chemistry and the character building. Could we please get a Harvey book? Even if it's only with Isabella? I want to know if he was always this kind of guy. Als Sloane am Tag ihrer Hochzeit ihren Verlobten verlässt, hilft ihr Jasper, ihr Kindheitsfreund, für den sie schon immer heimlich Gefühle hatte, mit der Flucht. Als Jaspers Welt wegen einer schlimmen Nachricht zusammenbricht, steht Sloane ihm bei und merkt, dass da auch von Jaspers Seite mehr als nur Freundschaft ist.   Mit Powerless haben wir eine total süße Childhood-Friend-to-Lovers-Geschichte vorliegen, und Elsie Silver konnte mir hiermit zeigen, dass nicht nur ihr Schreibstil wunderschön ist, sondern jede Geschichte der Chestnut Springs-Reihe herzergreifend, humorvoll und abwechslungsreich ist. Normalerweise ist Friends-to-Lovers nicht mein liebstes Genre, aber ich fand Sloanes und Jaspers verborgene Gefühle und ihre langsamen Annäherungsversuche total authentisch und konnte sehr mit den beiden mitfühlen. Beide haben auf ihre Art und Weise viel in der Vergangenheit durchgemacht, doch die beiden können sich gegenseitig helfen bei der Überwindung ihrer Schicksalsschläge und Traumata. Auch wenn die Geschichte immer süß und humorvoll, gepaart mit Slow-Burn, beginnt, haben wir wieder sehr heißen Spice vorliegen, der gut in die Storyline reingepasst hat.   Wie ihr bestimmt schon mitbekommen habt, bin ich ein Riesenfan der Chestnut Springs-Reihe geworden, denn ich liebe die Mischung aus Humor und Slow-Burn sowie das Setting und die ganzen (Neben-)Charaktere machen die Geschichte einfach perfekt. Gerade für Fans von Friends-to-Lovers ist dieser Teil eine Riesenempfehlung.

For everyone whow loves the friends to lovers trope and spicy. That was my second book by Elsie Silver and I'm in love with her writing and this specific kind of genre. Everyone needs someone like Jasper on their side and it was lovely to witness Solane finding herself and make her own decision without a man.

Reading Elsie Silver books just feels like coming home to me and at this point her stories are comfort reads and some of my favorites ever. Powerless is the newest release and the third book in the Chestnut Springs Series.   I love this book with my whole heart and Sloane and Jasper just belong together. They knew each other since they were kids and Sloane loved Jasper for a long time while he didn’t seem to return the feelings. They were always friends and there for each other, but it never went further. Only when Sloane is about to marry another man, Jasper starts to realize his feelings. That was everything and this book takes the it-was-always-you-aspect to a whole new level. There were so many incredible scenes and some of my favorites had to do with a ring and a tattoo. If you know you know. And Jasper in the bedroom is just hot.   I also really liked the representation of sports as Sloane is a ballet dancer and Jasper is a hockey player. They grew up under opposite circumstances and that messed up especially Jasper who needs to open up more. I really liked it when he showed a more vulnerable side, and you can only love Jasper. In addition, I loved seeing all the previous characters from the Gold Rush Ranch Series and the Chestnut Springs Series. And after all love isn’t a fickle thing, but something for eternity. 5 stars.

Powerless startet ruhiger als die vorherigen Bände, hat mich aber mit der Zeit komplett abgeholt. Auch wenn hier der klassische Cowboy-Vibe etwas in den Hintergrund tritt, bleibt dieses vertraute Gefühl der Reihe bestehen. Die Kleinstadt, die Verbindungen zwischen den Charakteren und vor allem dieses starke Found-Family-Gefühl machen das Buch wieder zu einem echten Wohlfühl-Read. Was für mich hier besonders herausgestochen hat, ist die Dynamik zwischen den beiden Hauptfiguren. Das ist kein klassisches „wir lernen uns kennen“, sondern eine Beziehung, die von Anfang an auf einer intensiven, gewachsenen Freundschaft basiert. Man merkt durchgehend, wie viel Vertrauen, Nähe und Vertrautheit schon da ist – selbst bevor sich etwas verändert. Gerade dadurch fühlt sich die Entwicklung so besonders an. Es gibt diese Momente, in denen es plötzlich „klick“ macht, aber vor allem sind es die Gespräche, die das Ganze tragen: über Ängste, Zweifel, verpasste Chancen und die Gründe, warum es bisher nicht funktioniert hat. Und genau da liegt für mich die Stärke der Geschichte – dass sich beide bewusst dafür entscheiden, diesen nächsten Schritt zu gehen, ohne ihre Basis zu gefährden. Im Gegenteil: Die Freundschaft wird zur Grundlage dafür, dass diese Beziehung so gut funktioniert. Beide Charaktere bringen zudem viel Tiefe mit. Sie kämpft sich aus schwierigen, manipulativen Verhältnissen heraus und findet Stück für Stück zu sich selbst. Und auch er hat eine Vergangenheit, die ihn geprägt hat und die seine Entwicklung umso greifbarer macht. Wie schon in den anderen Bänden verbindet Elsie Silver ernste Themen mit Leichtigkeit. Es gibt viele humorvolle Momente, aber auch Szenen, die wirklich unter die Haut gehen.
