Reading this was so sad. Hayden Panettiere—a former child star, a Hollywood icon, known in Germany as Wladimir Klitschko’s partner, a mother who had to give up custody of her child for the sake of her own health, a sister who lost her brother far too soon. Hayden Panettiere had so many designations, and her story ended far to soon. Like so many others, I grew up watching Hayden on TV. As an actress in *Bring It On* or *Ice Princess*, she was a childhood idol of mine. Later, she remained an idol to me, though in a different way. In her book, Hayden tells her story right from childhood—covering her family, her relationships, and her early start in the film industry. It was a remarkable young career that was soon overshadowed by headlines and personal tragedies. Hayden was—and is—one of the few women to speak so openly about her alcohol addiction and postpartum depression. Reading about the many headlines I had seen before from her own perspective makes the whole picture far more emotional and very powerful. Her story is incredibly inspiring, despite (or perhaps precisely because of) its low points. I found myself getting emotional, because I had momentarily forgotten that Hayden had passed away while reading her story — yet in her book, she is still striving toward a bright future, full of hope. This is not a sad story or a sad life – it's a strong story and Hayden was such a joy for the world. RIP, Hayden.
