This standalone romantasy presents a mysterious and captivating story full of (darker) magic. Liska, a young girl with magic at her hands flees her village in order to reach her most important goal: getting rid of that magic. But when she stumbles across a mysterious manor with an even more mysterious owner, she learns more about magic - and herself. Suddenly, everything that she has ever known gets turned upside down and a magical world opens itself up to her that ultimately provides her with a chance to save them all. I really enjoyed the fairytale vibes that accompanied me while reading, and the ficitional world that opened itself up to me left me feeling quite whimsical. -

I loved every second of this book...
A beautiful fantasy novel with a hint of romance and ideas from slavic folklore. I loved the whole concept and storytelling of this book! The characters are deep and lovable, with dark traits and gracious hearts. The language is fluent yet poetic at times and I felt right at home in that dark, mysterious wood full of monsters. A stand alone novel and Top 10 candidate for 2024!
