I couldn't stop reading this book and I still have a lot of questions. So unsettling and creepy. "We used to live here" keeps you wondering what is real and what isn't. The ending had me staring at the wall for a few minutes. So good!

For everyone that loves reading between the lines, falling into a rabbit hole or discussing with other people this book is perfect. Also, everyone who likes House of Leaves will eat this up as well. This book really is like quicksand, it doesn't let go and will definitely haunt you even after you finished it. My sleep-deprived eyes and overall sleepless nights can vouch for that. I dare say, this was one of the best horror reads this year, even though at first, for me it started quite slow. I actually liked this slowly creeping sensation, that got even creepier the more you read. Imagine, moving in to this big, old house with your partner. Suddenly this (slightly) weird family knocks on your door, the man telling you he used to live there and if they may take a look around. Obviously my answer would have been YOU MAY NOT. The story unravels from there until you (as well as our main character) get to the point of having no clue what's real anymore and we all feel kind of delulu. So in conclusion, the real horror lies in socialising with people... Can't imagine not being able to get strangers out of my house, the audacity!

I never thought I could be genuinely scared while reading a book, however Marcus Kliewer proofed me wrong. Through his detailed descriptions he managed to create such creepy and unsettling scenes that literally made my heart beat faster. Therefore I do not recommend reading this book late at night while being home alone. So be cautious when picking up this book - it might be the cause for a sleepless night!

This book was scary - and by that I mean I was scared to read it, even in daylight! This is not your typical haunted house setting. So be aware: Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, is as it seems. HUGE recommendation!
