This is a book about a young guy named Zhen who is a white snake and a prince named Xian. Xian´s mother got poisoned by a white snake, so her son searches now for another white snake to get an antidote. On his journey, he meets the young stable boy Zhen and they instantly like eachother. Unfortnately, Zhen is exactly the snake Xian is looking for so they could never be together. This book is great to start reading danmei and is super lovely written, perfect for beginners. It contains tropes like enemys to lovers and queer romance, as well as a secret identity. Different then other danmei, here is not that much political information and that makes ist easier to understand for beginners. With fantasy, a cute love story and cultivation aspects which i already know from most danmei novels, this story has thrilled me!

This book tells the story of Prince Xian and Zhen, the white snake. It shows us that the power of love is able to withstand any kind of hardship and betrayal. A very well written and easy to follow story which words captivated me and even brought me to tears. In contrast to other danmei books, Chinese customs and words have been explained directly in the story which creates a smoother reading experience because we don't have to look back and forth between the text and footnotes.
