The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System 1: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (Novel) Volume 1

Just imagine that instead of ending up in an afterlife after death, you end up in the book you despised. To top it all off, you're not even the hero or a random NPC, no you're now the scummiest villain of the story. Exactly this happens to Shen Yuan, now Shen Qingqiu, and one thing is clear — he won't end up like the original goods. So now it's up to him to fill the plotholes left by the author and raise the protagonist Luo Binghe to be an upstanding cultivator as to not end up as a human stick. That's easier thought than done, especially since an ominous system tries its best to make Shen Qingqiu's life harder around every corner. Still the Transmigrator persists and even gains an unlikely ally along the way. This story is mostly comedy with over-the-top drama, paired with hilarious characters. It does pack a punch at times, but the story manages to balance these opposites quite nicely. Shen Qingqiu is an amusing protagonist, and it's quite fun to read his inner monologue and then see his actions. All in all the book is a fun and easy read for the genre, definitely worth it if one wants to get into danmei.

Since I read this book for the first time,. Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu/Shen Yuan live rent free in my head. Relatable, that Shen Yuan died while hating against the outrageous novel “Proud Immortal Demon Way”, just to be reborn into the very same story, incarnated as the main villain Shen Qingqiu. To save his life, he must make the main character like him. I feel like everyone knows where this is going... This book-series (4 books in total) is the perfect mixture of fun, drama, queernes, and chinese fiction and let's not forget the amazing artworks that accompany the story. Trust me, the second you pick up these books you will not put them down again. Check out MXTXs other works “Heaven Officals Blessing” and “The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation” (a must read for all Danmei and queer-fiction fans).

MXTX first series is nearly as amazing as MDZS or TGCF but it does has it´s flaws. The characters, world and setting are beautifuly written as always, but the storytelling became too messy and too fast sometimes. But still the main love story is again wonderfully written, incredibly funny and heartwrenchingly tragic. A definite must read if you love her other books and danmei in general.

This is just so funny to read, the story is pure crack! I really enjoyed reading about the Scum Villain!

After finishing TGCF and MDZS, I of course had to check out MXTX's first danmei. I was defintely pleasantly surprised! I honestly didn't expect to like it that much, but it was quite an enjoyable read. While the story itself doesn't quite compare to MXTX's newer works in terms of plot and angst, it contained much more humour and was overall more lighthearted, which was a nice change of pace. I enjoyed the whole aspect of the main character transmigrating into a novel, references to modern life and social media/blogs were amusing and a nice surprise for me personally, since I wasn't sure which direction these books would go in. If you're a fan of TGCF, MDZS or danmei in general, you shouldn't miss out on this one.
