What a dark and gripping retelling! From the very first moment, it’s clear: this book draws inspiration from the tale of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, yet it is far darker and more sinister than the original story. Behind the fate of Annnaleigh and her family lies a magical curse with origins deep in the ocean. It is a fantastic, mystical tale involving gods, dangerous creatures, and wicked bargains—weaving together reality and dreams, life and death, family and betrayal. You never quite know what to expect right up to the final page—but that’s exactly what makes it so good! I was constantly surprised and couldn't foresee many of the twists (though there was one thing that was glaringly obvious—but I’ll overlook that). The overall atmosphere perfectly matched the story’s progression. Throughout the book, I kept picturing a foggy seaside town in the middle of the ocean with cliffs, pirate ships, and a dark history. Highly recommended!

This dark, spooky and atmospheric retelling of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" swept me off my feet and has become one of my favorite books. Its very twisty and mysterious, has an interesting god element and extremely imaginative worldbuilding. The characters are written so well!

This stormy, eerie atmosphere was so much fun and i enjoy a fairytale retelling so much, so this was a great combination. For me this was definitely more of an atmospheric/vibey read. The end was a little un clear to me, but the concept an setting was so entertaining.
