Yadriel is trying to win the approval of his family and to do so he summons a ghost. Only it turns out to be the wrong ghost... who is the bad boy of his high school... and who he catches feelings for. Yadriel and Julian (aforementioned bad boy ghost) try to solve the mystery as to why Julian is dead, why other people keep disappearing and who is behind it all. I really liked that in addition to a very intriguing mystery plotline you also get a lot of backstory on both of the main characters which fleshes them out and makes you understand their actions and motivations. This is the first book in a duology with the second book coming out this September. This story is perfect for readers that enjoy LGBTQ+ young adult novels, mysteries and ghosts.

Proving yourself to your family as a real brujo and accidentally summoning a handsome ghost at the same time? Just a normal Tuesday. At least for Yadriel. An admirable fantasy novel that describes not only supernatural events, but also normal aspects of the life of a trans* boy. One of my comfort books!
