Meine letzte Rezension The Absolutist von John Boyne
A book to make you stay up late because you can't stop reading. "The Absolutist" goes into a part of WW1 history. I hadn't heard about this before: the conscientious objector. Today the right to refuse to fight in a war is still a widely discussed question. Boyne merges this topic in with a queer coming of age story during times of war. Tristan and Will struggle with the purpose of the Great War, the horrors of the same, and the expectations of family and society.

    Light From Uncommon Stars

    I just wanted to merge with this book. It was so beautifully written and each and every character was extremly lifelike. Its a perfect fit for someone who wants to try getting into sci-fi. I loved every single moment of this.

    You Weren't Meant to Be Human

    This book shattered me! I found myself in so many parts of this book, it was beautiful and horryfing at the same time. The themes about unwanted pregnacy, transition and self hate resonated with me. It is another amazing book by Andrew Joseph White. Definetly read the content warnings first!

    Yumi and the Nightmare Painter

    Eine wundervoll fantastische Liebesgeschichte, auch geeignet für Nicht-Sanderson-Fans. In diesem Buch kann sich jeder wiederfinden, ob in dem zurückhaltenden Nikaro oder der einsamen Yumi. Man kann diese Charaktere nur ins Herz schließen!

    Sunburn

    Diese Geschichte hat mich unglaublich berührt! Bisher zählt dieses Buch definitiv zu meinen Jahreshighlights. Die Themen Coming Out und erste Liebe werden mit viel Feingefühl und Romantik behandelt. Trotzdem kann man sich wunderbar in die Geschichte hinein fühlen. Nicht zuletzt erzählt die Autorin von der Zerrissenheit man selbst zu sein.

    Hoke, H: Open Throat

    Such a lovely read! My hearted melted during this sweet story about a cougar finding frienship with a human after being lonely for a long time. Its very poetic and I wish it was longer.

    My Darling Dreadful Thing

    What a story! This book really makes you question whats real and what could be. Van Veen paints her ghost almost human, so much so that you start to see them as such. I also loved the (still) alive characters, although they are not pleasent to read about. The sprinkeld in interviews of Roos and ther doctor were also a great addition to the story. There's even bits of romance included. So excited for Johanna van Veen to write her next novel I cant wait!

    Katabasis

    Ich habe sehr hohe Erwartungen an diesen Titel gehabt, da ich Kuangs vorangegangene Bücher verschlungen habe. Ich wurde nicht enttäuscht! Dieses Buch ist so wunderbar vielschichtig erzählt, dass man die vielen Seiten gar nicht spürt. Die Mischung aus Fantasy, Romance und Dark Academia macht einfach Spaß! Wenn dir "Babel" gefallen hat, wirst du "Katabasis" lieben.
