This book has rested on my TBR pile for a year or two, perhaps rightfully so, because once I started it gripped me. I like to believe the time was right. I loved the characters, not entirely good, with many flaws but also good sides. They are different shades of grey and we don't have to pretend that Rhys, of them all, is pretty... questionable to put it lightly. But honestly? I dig it. I was so vocal while reading it, felt many many things and rooted for all them — especially Moira and David, ngl. BUT apart from the romance aspect (which is a big one!) I'm a huge fan of the variety of occultism. Not just plain magic, but all sorts of practices and roots. I enjoyed it so much and inhaled it whenever I had the chance. Also the cover art is absolutely stunning! The prettiest book I own I believe.

They put a spell on me.

This book had me in a chokehold! I don't know how Gibson did it, but she managed to grip me with her compelling and unique characters, so authentic and different. They fit each other like puzzle pieces and I was rooting for Moira and David the entire time, especially the latter holds a special place in my heart. Rhys is a little hard to like, but I couldn't help but have big emotions™ anyway when it came to David and Rhys; I thrived during their bantering. The world is easy to grasp, the english very purple prose (which I like a lot), the story itself is rather slow, but that was fine by me as I was most interested in how their relationship unravels. Also, did I mention it's about occultism and possessions? That's right up my alley!

S.T. Gibson has quickly become one of my favourite authors this year and this book really just cemented that. The writing style is just absolutely gorgeous and the more I learned about the characters the more I fell in love with each of them! So if a book about curses, secret societies and messy relationships sounds like something you might be into, you should definitely give this book a try!
