ACHTUNG: MIT SPOILERN In “Weyward” begleitet man Altha, Violet und Kate über die Jahrhunderte. Alle drei sind miteinander verwandt/gehören einer Linie an und haben unterschiedliche Formen von Gewalt erlebt, die von Männern begangen wird. Ihre Gabe lässt sie Kraft schöpfen, als alles ausgeglichen erscheint. Diese Gabe ist ihre Verbundenheit mit der Natur, der Erde und ihren Lebewesen und sie können sich diese zu eigen machen. Besondere Bedeutung haben dabei Krähen. Ich würde das Buch im Mystery-Bereich verorten, da die Magie eher eine Ergänzung zur sehr gegenwartsbezogenen Geschichte ist. Die Geschichte hat mir mehrmals Gänsehaut beschert. Die Gewalterfahrung und die Ängste und das Grauen, die damit einhergehen, sind emotional so greifbar beschrieben, dass es einen beim Lesen nicht unberührt lässt. Ich finde es super, wie die Geschichten der drei Frauen, die so unterschiedlich sind und doch den gleichen Kern haben, miteinander verwoben sind und zusammengebracht werden. Die Lebenswege bauen aufeinander auf und stärken sich und finden im Dunkel immer wieder ein Licht. Von mir einen klare Leseempfehlung! Ich merke, dass mir Bücher über starke Frauen und deren Verbundenheit immer wieder sehr gefallen, da sie es schaffen, etwas tiefer in mir zu bewegen.

we finally have to realise how strong women are! this book is tense, sad and emotional but also full of hope, strength and power. Emilia is a master of her craft and combines so much in her book that I would love to crawl inside and hug the characters.

Weyward is an absolutely spellbinding novel that follows the intertwined lives of three women across different time periods, each with their own struggles and connections to nature. Kate, Violet and Altha. The novel is beautifully written, with each woman’s story resonating across time, and the way they’re connected is both haunting and empowering. The themes of resilience, survival, and the connection to the natural world are woven through every page. Weyward is a compelling, emotional, and thought-provoking read that stays with you long after finishing it. It was definitely a 2025 Highlight for me. Also lots of witchy cottage core vibes.

Every witch had her own unique story. I loved watching them find their own power and confidence. It is a story about forgiving yourself and finding your inner strength. Can only recommend!

Three different women, three different times and yet they are all intertwined! I loved reading about each and everyone of them, loved to discover how their story developes. All are so unique and beautiful, sad and sometimes there were parts that were hard to swallow. Definitely a page turner! I especially loved the sibling relationship between Violet and Graham as it was probably not accustomed like this at that time.
