A heartbreak from her own perspective.
This book needs to be read after "Powerless"! We already knew that Adena would die—and it was already devastating from Kai's and Pae's POVs, but now we have it from her own perspective and also the one of Mak. And let me tell you about him: he's really a sweetheart, and I loved the banter between him and Adena. It was light-hearted and funny, and I even forgot at some point that they wouldn't have their happy ending. What a tragedy. But this book was perfect for me to know more about the sweet seamstress and how she coped while her best friend was away, and also introduced us to Makoto...I think that he will make a reappearance sometime soon... 5/5! I loved it! -

“See you in the sky,”
We already knew Adena from “Powerless”, as well as her ending. Now we get her side of the story, which ran parallel to Paedyn's. And we get to know (and love) Mak. It was a bit of a coincidence that I started the book because I never wanted to. Adena's fate is in your head from second one, but that somehow makes the whole book that much more special. I'm glad I started it because it was just great! Emotional, funny and beautiful! Mak and Adena are in the foreground, and I could have read 500 pages more about them because they harmonize perfectly with each other in this story. The end of the book is all the worse, with tears just streaming down. As beautiful as the journey through the chapters is, you have to prepare yourself for a hard ending... -

A must read that leaves you with tears!
Powerful lets you see the story of Powerless through Adenas eyes. Paedyns best friend, who now has to survive on her own. You should definitely read Powerless, before you start reading Powerful. I love that Lauren Roberts gave us a story about a side character, a best friend who usually gets left behind. This novella is a perfect way to pass time until the release of Fearless, the last book of this series. -

Counting the stars...
This Powerless novella takes place parallel to the events in Powerless and follows Adena's life while Pae is away at the trials. It's probably the most beautiful "grumpy x sunshine" romance I've ever read, with such a sweet female protagonist and the purest, most heartwarming interactions, but it also inevitably broke my heart and left me sobbing throughout the last twenty pages.
